Ze illustreert ook chirurgische praktijken (amputaties, het aanleggen van spalken, \u2026), klinische uitingen van ziekten, de embryologie, de bevalling, \u2026 Kortom, didactisch materiaal dat in het begin van de 19de eeuw werd gebruikt voor het opleiden van toekomstige artsen, later van paramedici, en dat uiteindelijk in de 20de eeuw terechtkwam in de kramen van rondreizende foorreizigers.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]In de Spitzner zaal toont een reeks anatomische wassenbeelden op zeer realistische wijze de uitingen van syfilis, gonorroe, alcoholisme \u2026 zoals men die aantrof in de 19de eeuw, maar die vandaag, sinds de komst van antibiotica, nauwelijks nog voorkomen. De schrik die deze beelden inboezemden, was in de eerste plaats bedoeld voor educatieve doeleinden, maar ook om het brede publiek te waarschuwen voor
